IGNITION
Ignition is a 30-minute piece following Isaiah Black, a young man on death row reflecting on the murder of his father. As his execution approaches, he retraces the path that led him here — a story shaped by generational trauma and survival.
The piece unfolds through a poetic monologue interwoven with physical theatre, exploring how violence and legacy are carried not only in words but through the body. The work examines the tension between guilt and grief, and the thin line between victim and perpetrator.
Is Isaiah a criminal, or a victim of the circumstances he was born into?
