Britney Penda Achampong is a theatre director from Amsterdam, of Ghanaian and Cameroonian heritage. She is currently studying Theatre Directing at the Academy of Theatre and Dance and will graduate in 2027.

Her work is driven by a fascination with the inner architecture of the human mind. She explores psychological states such as the shadow self, guilt, psychosis, and experiences that exist at the edges of what is considered “normal.” Darkness functions as both theme and visual language, often placed in contrast with lightness, tenderness, or absurdity. Duality is central to her work: good and evil, control and chaos, intimacy and distance.

Inspired by film, especially the psychological thriller, she investigates how theatre can become cinematic. Through precise choreography, lighting, and rhythm, she builds performances that unfold with tension, atmosphere, and visual intensity.
